This series of photos captures the tunnel bore machine breaking though the stone into the north shaft of the Manitowoc River crossing, completing the nearly 400 foot tunnel in preparation for the pipeline. The break through happened at about 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 25th. Broken pieces of rock can be seen piling up at the base of the shaft as the cutter head of the tunnel bore machine cuts it way into it.


This series of photos captures the tunnel bore machine breaking though the stone into the east shaft of the De Pere River crossing, completing the nearly 800 foot tunnel in preparation for the pipeline. The break through happened at about 1:35 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28. The cutter head of the boring machine can be seen in photos 13 through 16.
