Work continues on construction of the shaft on the south side of the Manitowoc River. When completed, the shaft will be used to tunnel bore under the river. Forty-eight inch main pipe will then be set into place and the tunnel will be backfilled with dirt to seal it off. A similar shaft is located along the north side of the river.
