Mesmerizing timelapse shows ice shards forming along Lake Michigan

GRAND HAVEN, MI -- It was a calm and cold Sunday afternoon at Grand Haven State Park. From afar the noise of crackling could be heard.
On closer inspection, the thin ice layer on Lake Michigan was colliding with the shoreline causing ice shards to form.
